How Dyme Works
When you book travel with us, part of the revenue supports solar energy projects. We work with partners around the world to increase access to clean energy.
Purchase. Travelers make purchases through Dyme’s platform for flights, car rentals, or hotels. We work with multiple travel providers to find the best wholesale rates.
Revenue. Dyme makes money from several sources. We charge businesses a monthly fee to access Dyme. We receive commissions and rebates from hotels and other travel providers when you make a booking. And finally our investments in solar projects pay us when they sell the electricity generated.
Profits. After our expenses running Dyme, we make a profit and those profits are invested into solar projects.
Investments. We support solar projects by investing in them (as against donating money as a non-profit would). In return for those investments, we also receive a part of the revenue that the solar project makes from selling electricity. Each investment is for a fixed number of years, after which we receive our money back and can re-invest in another project, expanding our portfolio of projects and allowing us to continue to invest those same dollars for more impact.
Carbon Avoidance. Because electricity from the solar projects has a much lower carbon intensity than electricity produced by burning coal or gas, our support for those projects helps avoid emissions.
