Recycling materials in the office and appliances
P.C. Richard & Son aims to maximize recycling of customers old appliances, office and warehouse materials, such as paper, electronic parts, wood, cardboard, metal, styrofoam and freon, among others. Styrofoam, for instance, is recycled to produce outdoor furniture, coathangers, doors and window frames, and much more.
Transitioning lighting to LED and to solar energy
By this year, P.C. Richard & Son is expected to double stores’ LED efficiency, by replacing all lighting to LED. LED lights are made of non-toxic materials, contain no mercury, and can last up to 50,000 hours, nearly 6 years of continuous use. Besides, there has been a $9 million in solar power so far, with an expected offset of almost 2,500 metric tons of CO2 per year.
Launching eco-friendly gift cards
To reduce carbon emissions even further, P.C. Richard & Son is launching eco-friendly gift cards in partnership with Dyme. For every gift card sold, as a thank you, PCRS is going to support clean energy for schools and communities in the US, at no extra cost for the consumer. Consumers will be also able to account their carbon emissions in Dyme’s app.
