Chemical management and responsible sourcing
It’s simple: Tommy Bahama only works with garment factories that share the values of respect and equality in the treatment of their employees and a willingness to continuously improve their social and environmental impacts. Making certain products are safe is the utmost priority. Tommy regularly reviews and updates chemical policies and restricted substance list (RSL), aligned with American Apparel and Footwear Association’s RSL.
Reducing emissions and improving efficiency
In 2018, Tommy measured the environmental impact at all stores, restaurants, and Marlin Bars and calculated the first-ever greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory. The amount of energy used at retail store locations was reduced by installing more energy-efficient LED lighting, and Seattle headquarters are accredited with LEED Gold certification for energy efficiency, water usage, air quality, and other important environmental factors.
Eco-friendly gift cards with carbon reductions
To reduce carbon emissions even further, Tommy Bahama is launching eco-friendly gift cards in partnership with Dyme. For every gift card sold, as a thank you, Tommy is going to support clean energy for schools and communities in the US, at no extra cost for the consumer. Consumers will be also able to account their carbon emissions in Dyme’s app.
