A “Dyme” from every transaction — turning everyday spending into clean energy for schools and hospitals.
We founded Dyme with the belief that the biggest gift we can leave to the next generation is a healthy planet, and that we can all be part of making that happen. Doing well and doing good should and can be the same thing.
We’ve also seen firsthand the impact of climate change. Whether it’s the devastating wildfires that have become all too common in California, or cities in the Global South where pollution leaves millions with breathing problems, the cost of inaction is clear and rising.
There are a number of ways to reduce air pollution, from using less fossil fuels, to tree planting to carbon offsets to renewable energy. Obviously, the best way to deal with pollution is to not create it in the first place. Cleaning up emissions after the fact is essentially playing catch-up, while avoiding them from the start is simpler and cheaper.
As we explored ways to reduce air pollution, renewables became abundantly clear as the answer hiding in plain sight. They deliver so many benefits at once: faster, cheaper, and cleaner. Around 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from electricity generation, and most of that still comes from burning coal, gas, and oil. Replacing that with solar means cleaner air, lower energy costs for communities, and less carbon in the atmosphere — all from the same investment.

~30%
of all global greenhouse gas emissions come from electricity generation — more than any other single sector
The Sun delivers more energy to Earth in a single hour than all of humanity uses in a year. Solar panels convert that into electricity with no combustion and no emissions. Over the last decade, the cost has fallen by more than 90%. Solar is now the cheapest source of electricity in human history — cheaper than fossil fuels, saving communities money they can put toward jobs and services. It’s cleaner, cutting the pollution that causes asthma and heart disease. And it’s available right now, not decades away.

of sunlight delivers more energy to Earth than all of humanity uses in an entire year
And that’s why we built Dyme. To make it possible for every purchase to contribute to building more solar projects, without our members having to pay extra. In fact, our members pay less!
We use the well understood wholesaler model that exists across sectors: we keep our operating costs very low, buy wholesale, negotiate private rates and pass those savings on to you. In turn, we make a small profit and use part of that to fund solar projects for schools and hospitals.
Globally, over 1.4 billion international trips are taken every year, generating around 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Travel also brings the effects of climate change into clear sight: the bleached reef, the shrinking glacier, the wildfire smoke hanging over a city.
The travel industry recognised this early, offering passengers the option to offset their flight emissions at checkout. We agree with the instinct, but we didn’t think travelers should have to pay extra for it.
So our approach goes further: we compensate for more than just the emissions caused by the trip. We use the profits we make from booking each trip to fund solar projects that reduce emissions for decades to come — without you having to pay extra, opt in, or do anything differently.

3.8 BILLION
hotel nights are booked globally each year
Our vision is to bring the Dyme approach to every time you shop, take a rideshare, or go to a restaurant. Across billions of dollars of purchases, we would be able to reduce millions of tons of CO₂, save schools and hospitals hundreds of millions of dollars on electricity bills. All while saving our members on purchases.
More members means more solar built. More solar means cheaper electricity for more schools and hospitals that need it most. Lower costs mean more people can participate, more communities benefit, and the whole virtuous cycle keeps growing.
Each year there are an estimated 3.8 billion hotel room nights occupied globally and 4.5 billion air passengers. If just one million travelers — a tiny fraction of overall travelers — were to book their trips through Dyme, we could reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 1.48 to 2.54 million tons annually.
