Balance, reloads & expiry
JCPenney gift cards carry no stated expiration date. However, per their terms, a card sitting at a $0 balance for 60 days may be deactivated, and cards with no activity for five years can be retired. The balance stays intact under normal use.

Refunds, lost cards & acceptance
No. JCPenney gift cards are non-refundable once purchased and cannot be redeemed for cash except where required by state law. They cannot be used to pay a JCPenney credit card account.
JCPenney may cancel and reissue a lost or stolen gift card with the remaining balance, but requires proof of purchase. Contact JCPenney customer service at 1-800-294-8804 and provide your receipt or order confirmation. Replacement is not guaranteed without proof.
No. The Sephora at JCPenney counters inside participating JCPenney stores accept the card because the transaction runs through JCPenney registers. Standalone Sephora stores and sephora.com are a separate company and do not accept JCPenney gift cards.
