Using your gift card
Yes. Open the Starbucks app, tap Cards, then Add Card, and enter the card number and security code. The balance merges with your Rewards account. You can also transfer the balance from a new card onto an existing registered card to consolidate funds into one account.
At participating company-operated Starbucks stores in the US and Canada, on starbucks.com, and inside the Starbucks app for mobile order and scan-to-pay. Most licensed locations inside grocery stores and airports accept them, but select third-party-operated Starbucks kiosks may not -- worth confirming with the barista. Balance, reloads & expiry
No. Starbucks cards and eGifts carry no expiration date and no dormancy, inactivity, or service fees. Whatever value is loaded stays on the card or inside your Rewards account indefinitely.
Enter the 16-digit card number and 8-digit security code at starbucks.com/gift/check-balance. Once the card is registered to your Starbucks Rewards account, the balance also appears in the app and updates after each transaction. Check your Starbucks balance
Yes. Once registered to your Starbucks Rewards account, you can reload the card inside the Starbucks app or at the register in store using a credit card, debit card, or PayPal. Auto-reload can also be set up in the app.
Refunds, lost cards & acceptance
If your card is registered to a Starbucks Rewards account, report it immediately through your account at starbucks.com/gift or by contacting Starbucks customer service. Starbucks will freeze the remaining balance and issue a replacement card for that amount. Unregistered cards are treated like cash -- the balance is not protected, so register as soon as you receive the card.
No. Starbucks gift cards are redeemable only at participating Starbucks locations and on starbucks.com -- they are not accepted at other coffee brands or general retailers.
No. Gift cards are non-refundable once purchased. The balance can be re-gifted, loaded into a Starbucks account, or used on a future purchase.
Buying & corporate
Starbucks stores do not operate a general gift card rack. The only gift card Starbucks sells is its own. For a wide selection of third-party gift cards, retailers like Target or grocery chains carry hundreds of brands.
