Using your gift card

On train fares booked at amtrak.com, in the Amtrak app, at station ticket counters, and at Quik-Trak kiosks. It also covers seat and class upgrades, sleeping-car accommodations, and onboard cafe and dining-car purchases on most routes. Yes. You can apply multiple Amtrak gift cards to one reservation and cover any remaining balance with a credit or debit card.

$25 to $500 in whole-dollar increments for both physical and e-gift cards, through amtrak.com or Dyme. Station counters sell cards within the same range where available.

Balance, reloads & expiry

No. Amtrak gift cards never expire and carry no dormancy or service fees. The full purchased value stays on the card until you use it.

Refunds, lost cards & acceptance

Amtrak's policy is that lost, damaged, or stolen gift cards will not be replaced or replenished. Treat the card like cash. If your card is lost or stolen, call 1-888-999-0016 immediately to report it and request any action on the remaining balance. Amtrak is not responsible for unauthorized use.

No. Amtrak gift cards are only valid for Amtrak-operated services. They are not accepted on commuter rail, regional transit, bus lines, or third-party travel partners.

Yes. Secondary marketplaces like Raise and CardCash buy unwanted travel gift cards, typically paying a percentage of face value based on demand. List the card number and balance; the marketplace verifies and pays out by ACH or check.

Buying & corporate

Amtrak does not sell its own cards below face value. Note that purchasing a gift card does not earn Amtrak Guest Rewards points — points accrue on the ticket you buy with the card, as long as your Guest Rewards number is on the booking.
