Looking for affordable sustainable hotels in Atlanta? These five are all Downtown, rated three or four stars, and part of a chain with its own sustainability program. That is as far as our proof goes: we could not confirm a third-party certification such as LEED or Green Key for any of them, or find figures published for the hotel itself.
How we selected these Atlanta hotels
We looked for two things: a Downtown location close to MARTA, and membership in a brand sustainability program such as Hyatt World of Care, IHG Green Engage, Hilton LightStay or Marriott Serve 360.
These programs are run by the chains themselves, so treat them as a starting point. We could not find numeric results published for any of these five properties.

Tips for checking a hotel's eco claims
- Ask the hotel what it can share from IHG Green Engage or Hilton LightStay before booking.
- MARTA's Red and Gold lines connect Downtown Atlanta to Hartsfield-Jackson, so you can skip a rental car and cut your trip's footprint.
- If a formal LEED or Green Key certification matters to you, check the USGBC project database at usgbc.org and the Green Key Global list at greenkey.global before booking. Both are free to search.

Frequently asked questions
Which Atlanta hotels in the mid-range band hold a formal third-party eco certification like LEED or Green Key?＋
None of these five that we could confirm. For hotels with a reported LEED rating, including three-star ones, see our LEED hotels in Atlanta page. The hotels on this page are here for brand programs: Hyatt World of Care, Hilton LightStay, IHG Green Engage and Marriott Serve 360.
What does IHG Green Engage actually measure at a specific hotel?＋
IHG Green Engage is IHG's own sustainability program. We could not confirm from a public source how it scores this property, so ask IHG directly if the score matters to your booking.
Can I reach these Atlanta hotels from Hartsfield-Jackson without a car?＋
Yes. MARTA's Red and Gold lines run from the Airport station directly to Peachtree Center in about 20 minutes, and the fare is $2.50. For SEC District on the Blue and Green lines, change at Five Points. Check the walk from the nearest station to your hotel, because it varies across this list.
How do I verify a hotel's sustainability claims before I book?＋
For LEED, search the property address at USGBC's project database. For Green Key, check greenkey.global. For brand programs like Hyatt World of Care, Hilton LightStay, IHG Green Engage, and Marriott Serve 360, ask the hotel what it can share for that property.
Are there budget hotels in Atlanta with verified eco credentials?＋
Not that we could confirm. Four of these five are three-star hotels, including the Holiday Inn Express Atlanta Downtown on Cone Street NW, which is part of IHG Green Engage. Our research didn't turn up a cheaper Atlanta hotel with independently verified eco credentials.
Why isn't a 1 Hotel on this list?＋
1 Hotels does not list an Atlanta property on its site.
