Where to stay for Dreamforce: hotels near Moscone Center

Dreamforce 2027 runs from Tuesday, September 21 to Thursday, September 23 at Moscone Center in San Francisco. If you want a room close to Moscone, the time to act is spring, not September.

Salesforce opens registration in spring 2027, and you can only book a room in its official hotel blocks once you've registered. Those rooms go first come, first booked, and for 2026 Salesforce's own registration page ended up listing the block as sold out.

So the best plan is to know which hotels you want before registration opens, then book the day it does. We measured the distance from each hotel below to Moscone ourselves, and there are cheaper fallbacks and airport routes further down.

Dreamforce 2027 at a glance

• Dates: Tuesday, September 21 to Thursday, September 23, 2027.
• Venue: Moscone Center, San Francisco. Moscone South is at 747 Howard Street, between 3rd and 4th Streets.
• Registration: opens in spring 2027, according to the Dreamforce FAQ. Salesforce says joining its save-the-date list gets you the lowest price when registration opens.

Hotels closest to Moscone Center, by distance

We measured the straight-line distance from each hotel's coordinates to Moscone South at 747 Howard Street. Your actual walk will be a bit longer on the street grid, but the order holds. Anything under a quarter mile is a few minutes on foot. The Union Square hotels are closer to half a mile.

The shortest walks, in SoMa

W San Francisco at 181 3rd Street is the closest hotel on our list, about a tenth of a mile from Moscone South. It has a lobby bar, the Living Room Bar, and a restaurant called Trace, which is handy when you need somewhere to meet that isn't the show floor. A block up 3rd Street, The St. Regis San Francisco at number 125 is the luxury pick at this distance, and it prices like one.

The Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SOMA is at 50 3rd Street, 0.19 miles from Moscone South. Its French restaurant, La Société, serves breakfast, cocktails and dinner, so a client breakfast before the keynote doesn't mean leaving the building.

Same distance, bigger bill: the San Francisco Marriott Marquis at 780 Mission Street is also 0.19 miles out, and on both dates it had rooms in our rate checks this fall, it was the most expensive hotel on this list.

The InterContinental San Francisco at 888 Howard Street is a short walk down Howard from Moscone South, 0.22 miles in a straight line. It has a 24-hour gym with an indoor lap pool, which is a real perk after three days on your feet.

East of Moscone, The Clancy, Autograph Collection at 299 2nd Street is 0.28 miles away. It has a taproom and an outdoor patio, and it takes pets.

Union Square: a longer walk, many more rooms

Union Square is packed with large hotels, about half a mile from Moscone, and Powell Street BART (0.32 miles from Moscone South) is on the way.

The Westin St. Francis at 335 Powell Street is right on Union Square. You can choose between rooms in the historic Landmark Building and the newer Tower Building, and the Clock Bar in the lobby is an easy place to meet someone.

At 345 Stockton Street, the Grand Hyatt San Francisco Union Square is steps from Chinatown and 0.47 miles from Moscone South. OneUP, its restaurant and lounge, handles dinner if you're done with crowds for the day.

One thing to know about the Hilton San Francisco Union Square at 333 O'Farrell Street: it changed hands in November 2025, when a court-appointed receiver sold it and its sister hotel Parc 55 to new owners. They have said they plan to spend about $200 million upgrading the two hotels, so ask whether any renovation work overlaps your dates when you book.

West of the square, the JW Marriott San Francisco Union Square at 515 Mason Street is 0.57 miles from Moscone South, with its own restaurant and bar, Level III.

Official hotel block or book your own

Salesforce holds rooms for attendees in hotels around San Francisco, but you can't touch them until you've registered. According to the Dreamforce FAQ, hotel booking isn't available until your own registration is complete, rooms are limited, and everyone in a group registration books their own room.

Booking on your own means you can choose hotels outside the block and set your own cancellation terms. It also means you're competing with everyone else who missed the block. What we'd do:

1. This fall and winter: pick two or three target hotels from the table above and join Salesforce's save-the-date list for registration news.
2. Spring 2027, the day registration opens: register, then check the block straight away. If one of your target hotels is in it, book it. Salesforce's own advice is to register and book early.
3. If your block hotel is gone: book directly, and widen the search to Union Square, the Financial District or downtown Oakland (below).
4. Before you pay: read the cancellation terms. A lot can change between spring and September, and a refundable rate keeps your options open.

Cheaper rooms and value bases: Union Square, the Financial District and Oakland

The best-value rooms near Moscone are at two hotels a few blocks west. In the rate checks we ran this fall, The Mosser at 54 4th Street and The Pickwick Hotel at 85 5th Street were the lowest-priced hotels within a third of a mile of Moscone South. The Mosser mixes Victorian architecture with modern rooms and even has its own recording studio. The Pickwick describes Moscone as an easy five-minute stroll.

Union Square. The big hotels above usually came in well below the SoMa hotels closest to Moscone when we compared them, for a few extra blocks of walking. Our guide to Union Square hotels in San Francisco has more options.

The Financial District. This is your fallback when SoMa and Union Square are full, rather than a bargain. The Hilton San Francisco Financial District at 750 Kearny Street is 0.77 miles from Moscone South. See our Financial District hotels guide for more.

Downtown Oakland. Oakland had some of the lowest rates we found, if you don't mind a BART ride. The Oakland Marriott City Center at 1001 Broadway is across the street from 12th Street/Oakland City Center BART, and the Hampton Inn Oakland Downtown-City Center at 378 11th Street is about 0.14 miles from the same station.

On BART's weekday schedule, the ride from 12th Street to Montgomery Street takes 13 minutes with no transfer, and Montgomery is 0.35 miles from Moscone South.

Emeryville has no BART station of its own, but the free Emery Go-Round shuttle runs to MacArthur BART, 19 minutes from Montgomery Street.

If you want the waterfront, 1 Hotel San Francisco at 8 Mission Street is on the Embarcadero, 0.80 miles from Moscone South. The rooms are built with local and reclaimed materials, including redwood from the former San Francisco Bridge, and there's a rooftop terrace.

Getting to Moscone from SFO, OAK and SJC

From SFO: take BART from the airport station straight to Powell Street, 29 minutes on BART's weekday schedule with no transfer. Powell Street is 0.32 miles from Moscone South.

From Oakland (OAK): BART's airport line runs to Coliseum in 10 minutes. Change there for a San Francisco train, which reaches Powell Street in another 23 minutes.

From San José (SJC): VTA Route 60, which is free for airport travelers, links the terminals to Caltrain at Santa Clara Transit Center and to BART at Milpitas, according to SJC's transit page. Caltrain ends at 4th and King in SoMa, 0.61 miles from Moscone South.
