What an Albertson's/Safeway gift card gets you
One card spends across the entire Albertsons Companies family — not just Albertsons and Safeway, but Vons, Pavilions, Jewel-Osco, Acme, Shaw’s, Star Market, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Carrs, and Pavilions — at more than 2,000 stores. It also covers the in-store pharmacy, fuel at participating Albertsons and Safeway fuel stations, and floral and bakery departments. Unlike a bank-issued Visa or Mastercard gift card, there are no activation or per-purchase fees and the balance never erodes from dormancy charges.
two formats:
- Physical card: Sold at any banner store register and on grocery gift-card racks. $5 to $500 per card in store.
- E-gift card: Emailed within minutes, redeemable in store by barcode or shown on your phone. $5 to $250 via Dyme. Can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Pay.
You can present multiple cards in a single checkout in store; the cashier draws from each until the order is covered. There is no published cap on how many you can stack.

Can I get a Albertson's/Safeway gift card at a discount?
Yes, but not through Dyme. Dyme sells Albertson’s/Safeway e-gift cards at face value; the value-add is Dyme Miles and instant paperless delivery, not a face-value discount. The discount channels are:
- Costco or Sam’s Club, in store. Periodic multi-pack discounts on physical Albertsons/Safeway cards. Supply rotates and isn’t always available. Physical only, club membership required.
- Secondary marketplaces (Raise, CardCash). Resold cards from third parties, typically a few percent below face value. Verify the balance before redeeming, since secondary sellers occasionally list cards with partial balances.
- Albertsons for U fuel and grocery promos. Some banners periodically offer bonus fuel points or grocery rewards when you buy third-party gift cards in the gift-card aisle. Terms vary by store and region, and Albertsons-brand cards are sometimes excluded.
The bigger combined return comes from the rewards stack below: your credit card, Albertsons for U at redemption, and Dyme Miles on the purchase. Most buyers leave that money on the table.
How to stack rewards
Three rewards programs fire on a single Albertson’s/Safeway gift card purchase through Dyme.
Credit-card rewards
Your credit card earns rewards on the Dyme purchase.
Gift-card resellers typically code as MCC 5947; many cards exclude this MCC from grocery or category bonuses.
- Capital One Venture X: 2x miles on essentially every purchase, including gift cards
- Citi Double Cash: 2% back on everything (1% when you buy + 1% when you pay)
- Amex Gold: falls back to 1x on gift cards. The 4x U.S. supermarket bonus does not apply to gift-card purchases
- Chase Sapphire Preferred: falls back to 1x on gift cards. 3x dining and 2x travel do not apply
Albertsons for U
- Join cost: free
- Applies at: redemption
- Earning rate: Points on qualifying grocery and fuel purchases when you redeem in store
- Reward threshold: 100 points = a $1 grocery reward; points also convert to fuel discounts at the pump
Albertsons for U does not earn on the gift card purchase. It earns on the groceries and fuel when you redeem, at the same rate as paying with cash or credit. Link your phone number or app at checkout to bank the points.
Dyme Miles
- Base rate: 1 Mile for every dollar
- Special rate: 5 Miles per dollar
- Expiration: never
- Blackouts: none
- Redeem on: over 2 million hotels and 600 airline partners
$100 Albertson’s/Safeway e-gift on Dyme, paid with Citi Double Cash, redeemed by an Albertsons for U member
- Citi Double Cash: $2 back (2% of $100)
- Albertsons for U at redemption: Grocery and fuel points on the eligible items you buy in store
- Dyme Miles on the purchase: 100 Miles (1 per dollar), or 500 on a special offer (5 per dollar)
Illustrative only. Card rates, brand-program terms, and Dyme Miles offers change and vary by member; figures above are examples, not a guarantee of value.

How to buy on albertsons.com or safeway.com
- Go to the gift card section on albertsons.com, safeway.com, or your banner’s site.
- Choose physical or e-gift, then pick the amount.
- Add to cart and check out. The store does not run a member discount on its own gift cards, and Albertsons for U points do not accrue on the gift-card purchase itself.
How to buy in store
Any Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Acme, Shaw’s, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Carrs, or Pavilions register sells gift cards. Tell the cashier the amount you want, pay with cash, credit, or another gift card, and walk out with the card. You can load any whole-dollar amount, typically from $5 to $500.
How to buy at Costco, Sam's Club, or a supermarket
Costco and Sam’s Club periodically run multi-pack Albertsons/Safeway cards at a discount; stock and pricing rotate. Third-party gift-card racks at other supermarkets, drugstores, and big-box stores carry $25, $50, and $100 cards at face value. You pay no discount but earn the host retailer’s loyalty points and any fuel rewards that apply to gift-card purchases.
Designs and personalization
Physical cards: standard banner-branded designs at the register, with seasonal options for holidays, birthdays, and thank-you occasions in the gift-card aisle.
E-gift cards: a handful of designs with a customizable subject line and a recipient message.
There is no co-branded option for individual purchase. For bulk orders, see corporate ordering below.
Delivery and timing
- E-gift via Dyme: 1 to 60 minutes by email. Add to Apple Wallet or Google Pay directly from the email.
