What a Target gift card gets you
A Target GiftCard spends on nearly everything Target sells across 1,800-plus stores and Target.com — groceries, electronics, apparel, home, and the in-store Starbucks — and it also covers Target Optical, most Target Café items, and Drive Up and Shipt orders. Two limits worth knowing: a Target GiftCard can't buy prescription items at the pharmacy in some states, and it can't be used to buy other prepaid or gift cards. There are no activation or dormancy fees, and Target Circle Card holders still get their 5% off when paying with a GiftCard.
two formats:
- Physical card: Mailed in a sleeve or sold in store. $5 to $500 per card via Target.
- E-gift card: Emailed within minutes, redeemable online or shown on phone in store. $1 to $2,000 via Target; $25 to $200 presets via Dyme. Can be added to the Target app, Apple Wallet, or Google Pay.
You can store multiple Target GiftCards in your Target account and the app, then apply several to a single transaction in store or online with no published cap.

Can I get a Target gift card at a discount?
Yes, but it's narrow, and not through Dyme. Dyme sells Target GiftCards at face value; the value-add is Dyme Miles, paperless delivery, and supporting renewable energy projects, not a face-value discount. Target almost never discounts its own cards, but a few channels exist:
- Target's own GiftCard sale day. Once or twice a year, often in early December, Target runs a one-day sale taking about 10% off Target GiftCards, in store and online. It's the single most reliable discount and it comes straight from Target.
- Secondary marketplaces (Raise, CardCash). Resold Target cards from third parties, usually a small percent below face. Verify the balance before redeeming, since secondary sellers occasionally list cards with partial balances.
- Circle Card 5% at redemption. Not a discount on the gift card, but Target Circle Card holders take 5% off most purchases even when paying with a GiftCard, which effectively stretches the card's value.
On top of any discount, the rewards stack below adds your credit card, Target Circle at redemption, and Dyme Miles on the purchase. Most buyers leave that money on the table.
How to stack rewards
Three rewards programs fire on a single Target gift card purchase through Dyme.
Credit-card rewards
Your credit card earns rewards on the Dyme purchase.
Gift-card resellers typically code as MCC 5947; many cards exclude this MCC from category bonuses.
- Capital One Venture X: 2x miles on essentially every purchase, including gift cards
- Citi Double Cash: 2% back on everything (1% when you buy + 1% when you pay)
- Amex Gold: falls back to 1x on gift cards. 4x dining and 4x groceries do not apply
- Chase Sapphire Preferred: falls back to 1x on gift cards. 3x dining and 2x travel do not apply
Target Circle
- Join cost: free
- Applies at: redemption
- Earning rate: 1% in Target Circle earnings on most purchases (or 5% off with the Target Circle Card)
- Reward threshold: earnings apply as a discount on a future Target run
Target Circle earns on the merchandise when you redeem the GiftCard, not on the gift-card purchase, at the same rate as paying with cash or credit. The free tier earns 1%; the Target Circle Card takes 5% off instead.
Dyme Miles
- Base rate: 1 Mile for every dollar
- Special rate: 5 Miles per dollar
- Expiration: never
- Blackouts: none
- Redeem on: over 2 million hotels and 600 airline partners
$200 Target e-gift on Dyme, paid with Citi Double Cash, redeemed by a Target Circle member
- Citi Double Cash: $4 back (2% of $200)
- Target Circle at redemption: 1% in Circle earnings on eligible merchandise
- Dyme Miles on the purchase: 200 Miles (1 per dollar), or 1,000 on a special offer (5 per dollar)
Illustrative only. Card rates, brand-program terms, and Dyme Miles offers change and vary by member; figures above are examples, not a guarantee of value.

How to buy on Target.com
- Go to target.com/c/gift-cards.
- Choose physical or e-gift, pick a design, and set the amount ($1 to $2,000 for e-gift).
- Add to cart and check out. Watch for Target's annual GiftCard sale day, usually in early December.
How to buy in store
Any Target register or the GiftCard rack near the front sells physical cards. Tell the team member the amount you want, pay with cash, credit, or a Target Circle Card, and walk out with the card. Load any whole-dollar amount from $5 to $500. During Target's annual sale day, in-store cards qualify for the same discount.
How to buy at Costco, Sam's Club, or a supermarket
Supermarket and drugstore gift-card racks at Kroger, Safeway, CVS, and similar chains carry Target GiftCards at face value in $25, $50, $100, and variable-load amounts. You pay no discount but earn the retailer's loyalty points and any fuel rewards that apply to gift-card purchases. Warehouse clubs occasionally bundle them into a promotion.
Designs and personalization
Physical cards: a large rotating catalog of designs, including birthday, holiday, baby, and the well-known novelty cards with lights and sound. A sleeve and message are available at checkout.
E-gift cards: dozens of designs with a customizable message and even short video greetings on Target.com.
For bulk orders, see corporate ordering below.

Do Target GiftCards expire?+
No. Target GiftCards never expire and carry no dormancy or service fees. The full purchased value stays on the card until redeemed.

Can I use my Target Circle Card discount when paying with a GiftCard?+
Yes. Target Circle Card holders still get 5% off most purchases when they pay with a Target GiftCard.
Can I check my Target GiftCard balance?+

Yes. You can save the card to your Target account and app, and add it to Apple Wallet or Google Pay from the delivery email.
Can I use multiple GiftCards in one transaction?+
Yes, both in store and online. Target lets you stack multiple cards on a single purchase with no published cap.
