One card, nine stores
Williams Sonoma's own terms say it works at Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Pottery Barn Teen, West Elm, Mark and Graham, Rejuvenation and GreenRow, and its gift card page adds Williams Sonoma Home. So the person you give it to can spend it on a Dutch oven, a crib, or a West Elm sofa, and they can split it across all three.
It works in stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, by phone, and online.
Dormify is the one loose end. Williams Sonoma names it in its eGift description but leaves it off the terms and the mailed-card page, so we'd count on the eGift there and not the physical card.

Our take: for a birthday, the scheduled eGift from Williams Sonoma means you don't have to remember on the day. If you want something to hand over, the mailed card comes in a gift envelope. If you want Dyme Miles on the purchase, or you're giving more than $500, buy it on Dyme.
Can I buy one at Target, Amazon or Costco?
Stores swap their gift card racks around all the time, online and at the checkout. Big retailers like Target, Amazon, Costco, Walmart, Kroger and CVS carry a rotating selection of brand cards, and what's there in October can be gone by January. So check the shop's own gift card catalog before you make a trip for this one.
When we last looked, the online gift card catalogs at Target, Amazon, Staples and Sam's Club didn't list a Williams Sonoma card. Costco, Walmart, Kroger and CVS don't publish a catalog we could search, so those are an open question rather than a no. CVS's own online gift card store sells only CVS cards.
The rack is still worth a glance. Gift card distributors stock those racks, so a store can have a card on the stand that its online catalog leaves out.
Why it won't work at Crate & Barrel
Crate & Barrel looks like it belongs on the list. It's a separate company. Germany's Otto Group took a stake in 1998, and its sister brands are CB2, Crate & Kids and Hudson Grace. It isn't on any of the store lists Williams Sonoma publishes, so a Williams Sonoma card won't help there.
Can I get one at a discount?
Not reliably. Williams Sonoma sells its cards at face value, and so does Dyme. What you get on Dyme is Dyme Miles on top, not money off.
You'll sometimes see Williams Sonoma cards below face value on resale sites. Be careful with those: Williams Sonoma's terms say unauthorized resale is prohibited, and a card someone else bought is only as good as the balance still on it. If you do buy one, check the balance before you pay.
You'll usually do better by stacking: pay for the card with a card that earns rewards, then earn Dyme Miles on the same purchase. Check how your card treats gift card purchases first, because plenty of cards leave them out of their bonus categories.

You earn 1 Dyme Mile for every $1 you spend, and up to 5 Miles per $1 when a brand is boosted. Miles post to your Dyme account within 3 business days. They don't expire while your account is open, have no blackout dates, and go toward hotels and flights you book through Dyme. The money you spend through Dyme also helps fund clean energy for local communities.
How to buy it from Williams Sonoma
Williams Sonoma sells two versions on williams-sonoma.com.
- The eGift comes in $25, $50, $75, $100, $150, $200, $250 or $500, or any custom amount up to $500. You can send it straight away or schedule it up to six months out, which is handy for a birthday you'd otherwise forget. Williams Sonoma's own page says an order for today can take up to 24 hours to arrive, so leave a day's margin.
- The mailed card comes in the same eight amounts, with your message in a gift envelope. Standard shipping is included and takes 5 to 7 business days. Next-day delivery costs $12 if you order by 9am Pacific on a weekday; order after 9am on Friday or over the weekend and it lands on Tuesday.
Neither can be returned or exchanged once you've bought it.
How to check the balance
Go to Williams Sonoma's balance page and enter the 16-digit card number and the 8-digit PIN. If you'd rather call, the balance line is 800.846.9817.
Got an old paper gift certificate? You can't check those online, only by calling 1.877.812.6235. They work on store and catalog purchases but not on the website.
Does it expire, and are there fees?
Williams Sonoma's gift card terms don't mention an expiry date, a dormancy fee or an inactivity fee. That's good news, but silence in the terms isn't the same as a promise.
The card can't be swapped for cash unless the law requires it. Williams Sonoma also doesn't cover lost or stolen cards, so treat the card number and PIN like cash and keep the eGift email.
A word on gift card scams
Williams Sonoma prints this warning on both gift card pages: gift cards are for gifts, not payments. If a call, email or text asks you to buy gift cards to pay a debt, a fine or taxes, it's a scam. You can report it to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov or on 1-877-FTC-HELP.
Buying for a team or clients
Williams Sonoma runs a corporate gift card portal for bulk orders, and Williams-Sonoma, Inc. has a business membership with dedicated gifting specialists. Neither lists amounts, minimums or discounts, so you'll need to ask their team.
One thing not to mix up: the 20% to 25% discount advertised on their business site is on merchandise, not on gift cards.
