Where to Stay for Climate Week NYC 2025: Our Top Hotel Picks by Location

Planning your trip for Climate Week NYC 2025? From September 21–28, New York City hosts 900+ Climate Week activities citywide. Finding the right accommodation is hard, given the myriad of choices and costs.

Below, you’ll find hotel options organized by neighborhood, with each blurb focused on walkability, transit, sustainability facts, and practical “good to know” details. 

1. UN / Midtown East

Climate Week’s official events center here, with UN headquarters hosting opening ceremonies and major multilateral sessions. Corporate headquarters along Park and Lexington host private climate finance roundtables from September 21–28.

  • Residence Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan Midtown East – Reports a carbon footprint of 9.85 kg CO₂e per night and guest-room recycling. Suites have full kitchenettes and fridges, so you can stock up and eat in. Five minutes to Grand Central, with a short walk to UN venues.
  • Hampton Inn Manhattan Grand Central – Hilton’s LightStay system is aligned with ISO standards for sustainability. Hot breakfast included. Just two blocks from Grand Central—subway transfers to the UN and Midtown events are straightforward.
  • EVEN Hotel New York Midtown East by IHG – IHG manages energy, water, and waste with its Green Engage program.  Rooms feature in-room fitness zones for a quick pre-session workout. Five-to-ten-minute walk to UN gatherings

2. Midtown West / Times Square

Major hotel ballrooms and conference centers, the large corporations host sessions, are in this here.  The area connects directly to the Javits Center for climate technology exhibitions.

  • Hampton Inn Manhattan Times Square Central – Hilton’s LightStay platform tracked for ISO compliance. Free breakfast and immediate access to major subway lines.
  • Moxy NYC Times Square – Lists guest-room recycling and water data (albeit not in detail). Travelers report compact rooms, so be sure to check room types if you’re sharing. Two minutes to major subway lines.
  • CitizenM New York Times Square – 24/7 canteenM, a cloudM rooftop bar (21+), and a 24/7 gym; rooms use bulk toiletries, and the brand has phased out many single-use plastics. Three minutes to 49 St (N/Q/R/W) and 50 St (1).

3. Financial District / Seaport

Wall Street institutions will host climate finance panels here. The district connects easily to Brooklyn events and climate tech meetups in outer boroughs.

  • Fairfield Inn New York Manhattan/Financial District – Guest-room recycling and large-format amenities common to Marriott properties. Short walks to Wall St. and Seaport, plus reliable breakfast and multi-line subway access
  • The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel – A stunningly restored landmark building offering luxury rooms. Part of Hyatt’s World of Care program. Convenient for City Hall and FiDi.
  • Gild Hall, A Thompson Hotel – Same Hyatt sustainability reporting as above. Easy 2/3/4/5/J/Z/R subway access—good if your schedule is split between Downtown and Midtown

4. Union Square / Civic Hall 

Union Square will be the hub for grassroots climate activism with daily demonstrations, while the Greenmarket is the focal point for sustainable food discussions. The Flatiron District will host tech startup events.

  • W New York – Union Square – Publishes 21.39 kg CO₂e per night. Fund fact – you’re steps from Union Square Greenmarket with flexible food-scrap drop-off. Multiple subway lines right under the square for quick commutes.
  • Freehand New York – A social, arts-focused hotel. Housekeeping opt-out program available. Quick walk to Union Square and plenty of local dining options.
  • Hyatt Union Square New York – Hyatt’s World of Care covers public environmental targets. A central spot for Civic Hall and fast subway access.

5. Chelsea / Flatiron 

Chelsea’s gallery district features climate art installations, while NoMad’s restaurants are great networking venues for event dinners. Easy access to both Union Square and Midtown events.

  • Heritage Hotel – Two blocks to Madison Square Park and Flatiron; rooms include a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffeemaker (handy for cutting takeout packaging). About 3–6 minutes to 23 St (R/W) and 23/28 St (6).
  • Moxy NYC Chelsea – Publishes 9.89 kg CO₂e per room. Energy-efficient by design, with insulation that meets NYC’s Green Standards. Right by the 1 and N/R/W lines, surrounded by food options.
  • Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel – LEED certified, lists 7.63 kg CO₂e per room night. Ten minutes to Madison Square Garden. Rooms are on the smaller side.

6. Lower East Side / East Village 

This area attracts startup pitch nights and grassroots meetups. Local venues in SoHo and the East Village will host small panels on climate justice. And you’re surrounded by a vibrant nightlife to keep the conversations going.

  • Moxy NYC Lower East Side – Guest-room recycling and water usage tracked. Walkable to SoHo and the East Village, with plenty of late-night food options nearby.
  • The Ludlow Hotel – Boutique luxury with a cozy, vintage vibe. Limited public sustainability info. Features energy-efficient lighting and linen/towel reuse. 
  • The Bowery Hotel – Tallest modular hotel in the U.S. at opening—modular construction reduces waste and disruption. 24/7 lobby workspaces and a rooftop available if you need to work.

7. Upper West Side / Central Park

The Upper West Side is steps from Central Park, where Climate Week hosts outdoor events like bird walks,  meditation, and other wellness-focused sessions.

  • Hotel Beacon – Every room is a studio or suite with a fully equipped kitchenette, so you can save some time and money by eating in. There’s also self-service laundry on site—handy if you’re in for the full week.
  • Arthouse Hotel New York City – Green Key Global eco-rated; 3-minute walk to 79 St (1) and ~8 minutes to Central Park.
  • The Wallace – A luxury boutique hotel in a restored landmark building. Modern rooms with the latest in-room technology.

8. Columbia / Morningside Heights

Centered around Columbia University’s climate research program, and will host several scientific presentations and policy discussions during Climate Week. The area’s collegiate atmosphere provides access to both university events and Harlem’s climate justice initiatives.

  • Aloft Harlem – Marriott level Sustainable on-site amenities, plus on-site laundry and a 24/7 gym (re:charge) with published hours. It’s a 4-minute walk to 125 St subway and steps from the Apollo Theater.
  • Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel – Built above the restored Victoria Theater façade and lobby on 125th Street; Marriott highlights the preservation details. You’re within walking distance of the Apollo and multiple lines at 125 St (A/B/C/D and 2/3).
  • Radio Hotel – The “stacked blocks” design creates multiple outdoor terraces and a planted courtyard—useful open-air spaces for quick meetups. Washington Heights location is about 20 minutes from Midtown by subway
