Three flights take you from Toronto to Delhi without a stop: Air Canada's AC42 in the evening, Air India's AI188 around lunchtime, and Air India's AI190 just after midnight three nights a week. The fastest is Air Canada's evening flight. In the second half of September it landed in Delhi in under 14 hours on eight of its nine recorded trips.
One more thing worth knowing before you book the trip home: one Air India flight back to Toronto is labeled nonstop and lands in Vienna on the way.
The three nonstop flights from Toronto to Delhi
These are the late-September 2026 schedules, taken from FlightAware's route search and Air India's own timetable. All three leave from Terminal 1 at Pearson and land at Terminal 3 in Delhi.

Watch the AI190 date carefully. A ticket that says Thursday at 12:35 a.m. means you're at Pearson on Wednesday evening, and it's an easy one to get wrong when you're booking for parents or grandparents.
Nobody else flies this route nonstop. United does fly nonstop to Delhi, but from Newark, so from Toronto you'd connect there first. Pearson's own airline page lists 16 flights a week to Delhi, all on Air Canada and Air India.
This schedule has moved around this year. In May, CBC reported that Air India had cut Delhi–Toronto from 10 weekly flights to seven, with its CEO blaming jet fuel prices, airspace closures and longer routes. By late September, FlightAware showed AI188 flying daily and AI190 three times a week, which adds up to 10 again.
How long the flight takes
Air India's route page says 14 hours and 20 minutes. None of its own Toronto–Delhi flights managed that in the period we checked. We pulled FlightAware's recorded flight history for every nonstop from September 17 to 28, 2026. These are actual departure-to-arrival times, not schedules.

Air Canada's flight beat both Air India flights on every recorded day, usually by an hour or more. Every AI190 in that window left late, between 12:55 and 3:06 a.m., and four of the six still landed within half an hour of the 2:20 a.m. arrival time. If someone is picking you up in Delhi, have them track the live flight status. AI190 has landed more than an hour early and more than an hour late.
Departures slip too. AI188 is scheduled at 12:30 p.m., and in that same window it left at 4:12 p.m. one day and 2:27 p.m. another. That's only 12 days of flights, so treat these ranges as a guide.
Air India vs Air Canada: bags, planes and timing
Checked bags are where the two differ most. Air India sets your allowance by fare. On Air India's baggage page for Canada and the US, flights to India give Economy Value one 23 kg bag, while Economy Classic and Flex give two 23 kg bags. The same page still shows an older table saying every Economy ticket gets two pieces, so trust the allowance printed on your e-ticket.
Air India also caps the size of both Economy bags added together at 273 cm (length plus width plus height), and won't take any single bag over 32 kg. Gold and Platinum members of its Maharaja Club get one extra 23 kg bag on Air India flights. If you're packing two big suitcases, check your Air India fare name first, because Economy Value gets you only one.
Air Canada's limit is 23 kg and 158 cm per bag. We couldn't find its included bags to India listed by fare, so check the baggage line in your booking before you pack the extra suitcase of gifts. Our Air Canada baggage and fees guide covers the rest of its rules.
Carry-on rules differ too, and Air India's are stricter. Air India allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg in Economy (55 x 40 x 20 cm), plus a small personal item. It says Indian security rules limit you to one piece of hand baggage. Air Canada's carry-on has size limits (23 x 40 x 55 cm, plus a personal item) and no weight limit, as long as you can lift it into the bin yourself.
Departure time is the easiest way to choose. AI188 is a Boeing 787-9 that leaves at lunchtime and lands early afternoon, which suits anyone who wants a daylight arrival. AC42 is a 777-200LR that leaves after dinner and lands in the evening.
AI190 is a 777-300ER that leaves after midnight and lands in the middle of the night, so it works best if you sleep well on planes. Our guide to sleeping on overnight flights has the tricks that help.
Terminals: T1 at Pearson, T3 in Delhi
Both airlines fly out of Terminal 1 at Toronto Pearson, so there's no terminal to mix up in Toronto. Air India asks you to be at the airport at least three hours before an international departure, and its online check-in opens 48 hours before the flight and closes two hours before.
In Delhi, all three flights arrive at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International, which handles both international and domestic flights. Arrivals are on the lower level and departures on the upper level. T3 connects straight to the metro, and Air India's route page points arriving passengers to the Airport Express metro line or app-based cabs.
When to fly: Diwali, winter and the clock change
Diwali falls on Sunday, November 8, 2026. If you're flying for Diwali or over Christmas, your dates are probably fixed, so the choice comes down to arrival time and bags.
Two things change once winter starts. Canada's clocks go back on November 1 and India's don't change, so the gap between Toronto and Delhi grows from nine and a half hours to ten and a half. The times in the table above are the late-September schedule, so recheck the times on your ticket for any trip from November on. And Air India's own route page warns of fog in Delhi in late December and January, which can hold up arrivals.

One rule to know before you mix airlines. Air Canada says that when your trip starts or ends in Canada, the airline flying your first leg decides the bag rules for the whole trip. If you fly Air Canada to London and Air India on to Delhi, Air Canada's rules apply, so check that allowance and not the second airline's.
Flying home: Delhi to Toronto
The trip home takes longer, and one Air India flight makes a stop its timetable doesn't show.

Air India's timetable labels AI189 as nonstop, but every AI189 in FlightAware's history for late September flew Delhi to Vienna and then Vienna to Toronto on the same flight number. The whole trip runs about 20 hours, against 16 or 17 on the true nonstops. The long scheduled time is the giveaway, so check it before you book the return.
For a true nonstop home, that leaves AI187 and AC43. Air Canada's is quicker, and landed before 6 a.m. Toronto time on 7 of 9 days. AI187 lands mid-morning, which is easier if someone is driving out to meet you.
